Waiting for baby

We're excitedly awaiting the arrival of our little dude two. He's not behind schedule since my due date is on Sunday, but my doctor expected him to come earlier this week. So we're trying to be patient but it's like Christmas Eve every night ;).

My mom has been here and is a huge help. She's mopped and cleaned and cooked and entertained Ben. Hurray for moms!

So we continue to wait. We're excited to meet you little boy!

Thanksgiving and Christmas

What a blast we had this holiday season! We cooked a fabulous family Thanksgiving dinner which we enjoyed for the next week. Ben's favorite was the broccoli. He didn't want to try the turkey unless we called it Costco chicken. He could take or leave the potatoes and wouldn't touch the yams. He's in that 2-year old, "I won't touch anything new" stage. We made 3 pies, and yeah, don't say anything about the fact that Doug and I each ate 1.5 pies in a week... It was just our little family, but it was so very enjoyable.

Doug and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary a few days before Christmas by going out for a nice romantic dinner. We visited a restaurant called Roy's and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They have a GF menu which made ordering my dinner stress-free. The food was tasty, service good and atmosphere happy and romantic.

Then Christmas morning arrived. Doug and I were up pretty late the night before working on casing some windows in the living room. We wished we had a few more elf helpers that night! But it was all worth it when we watched Ben discover what Santa brought. He noticed the camera tripod first silly boy, but then was thrilled by the oversized puppy, the cars and candy in his stocking. He loved the oranges and apples that were left out also. Each orange had to be shared with puppy--he'd take them over and hold them to puppy's mouth and say "yum!" He went bonkers for the tool set Doug and I got him and carried his hammer around the rest of the day. He actually started getting bored with opening presents by the end of the morning preferring instead to play with the toys he already had.

Christmas afternoon we drove up to visit my brother and his family who recently moved to our area. It was so nice to be able to spend the holiday with family! Ben and his cousin had an absolute blast together, but that will be the subject of another post.
